Section 1 - Eligibility
All persons of legal age in the Province of Alberta to consume alcoholic beverages are eligible for membership.
Section 2 - Acceptance
The only criteria for membership acceptance is to make application to the club and to keep the annual dues current.
Section 3 - Rights and Liabilities of Members
Each regular member of the club shall have the right to vote on club matters. Other types of members may also vote subject to the limits of Article II Section 8. The members of the club shall not be liable for the debts or obligations of the club. No members shall receive compensation for services rendered to the club except as otherwise approved by the officers of the club. A club member may be reimbursed for expenses reasonably incurred on behalf of the chapter, if approved by the club officers.
Section 4 - Guests
Members may bring guests to the club meetings and functions. It is anticipated that these guests would eventually join the club.
Section 5 - Membership Year
The membership year of the club shall end on 30 June.
Section 6 - Non-Discriminiation
Club membership shall not be denied to any individual on the basis of race, colour, creed, national origin, or sex.
Section 7 - Hold Harmless
My participation in the club is entirely voluntary. I know that participation in club activities involves the consumption of alcoholic beverages and this may affect my perception and reactions. I accept responsibility for my conduct, behaviour, and actions and absolve the Edmonton Hombrewers Guild of responsibility for my conduct, behaviour, and actions. Participation includes guests that may be present at club activities, wherever they are held.
Section 8 - Types of Membership
All types of membership are subject to Sections 1 and 2 of Article II.
A - Regular Members
Open to all persons as provided by Sections 1 and 2 of Article II. Dues for a regular member will be set by the officers.
B - Institute Members
Officers may award institute sponsor membership to organizations or companies in exchange for services or other benefits to the club or its members. Institute members shall not have voting rights and are not eligible to become officers.
Section 9 - Resignation of Members
Members can resign from the guild either by writing to the secretary or contacting said officer by phone and notifying that officer of their intent to resign.
Section 10 - Expulsion of Members
Members can be expelled. Grounds for expulsion include failure to pay dues or misrepresentation of the affairs of the guild. Members can be expelled by a majority vote of the membership at a regular meeting. Members will be notified by the newsletter which will provide two weeks notice of the intent to expel.
