Labware

Where can I find lab ware in Edmonton, specifically an Erlenmeyer flask?

U Alberta Stores will sell glassware to the general public

I just talked to Debbie at the stores and they will accept cash or cheque purchases from the general public for items (they will not sell alcohols or most chemicals).

The price I was quoted for a 2L Erlenmeyer was $18, a 1L Erlenmeyer was $7. They also sell all the items for yeast ranching like petri dishes, vials, racks, etc.

UofA Labware

I just picked up a couple of Erlenmeyer flasks, so I asked a couple of questions:

When buying supplies, give 'Edmonton Homebrewers Guild' as the organization/company name.

Anyone looking to UofA for supplies can look here first:
http://www.biology.ualberta.ca/facilities/storeroom/inventory.php
For best results, when searching for an item, enter one part of the name of the item you're searching for. Example: looking for a magnetic stir bar - enter "bar" in the search field.

There are no prices, but you can look up the prices of specific items elsewhere as prices should be similar (UofA receives a significant discount). Please don't call the UofA Biological Science storeroom for prices, except for bulk or large quantity orders.

Cheers,
Chad.

Fisher Discount

Looking at prices on the Fisher Scientific website and comparing the price for the things I was quoted by Biology stores, the U of A discount is about 30% of what is listed on the web. That should apply to anything they get from there.

UofA Stores

That's great, thanks Ian!

Last year I spoke with the chem department stores and they told me there was no way they would sell to the public, let alone a student. I guess I should have skipped over to bio-sci.

See you next meeting!
Chad.
